1.课程的地位与任务
The purpose of this course, as its title indicates, is to teach students of computer science major, whose second language is English. The most important thing for a student is that he or she can read and understand English papers and books in the computer science field after their graduating from university or college. Three purposes have been intended by this course .
(1) Study pure English.
(2) Learn quite a lot of computer terminology.
(3) Review and refresh computer science concepts.
2.课程的基本内容
2.1 The elementary components of PC(1)
In this part, students should understand what is processor,memory,
hard drive,video card,monitor. At the same time, students can read some
similar papers.
2.2 The elementary components of PC(2)
Students can read some papers just about the elementary components
of pc. Especially they can understand some knowledge about mouse, optical
drive, speakers ,modems and so on.
2.3 The Note Book
In this part, students should master heavy hitter, the softer side of
Sony and so on. Afer studing the content of this part, students should
have a integrated impression about Notebook. At the same time, students
should master smoothly some terminology about Notebook.
2.4 The personal printers
Personal printers is very important in our everyday life. After this courses, students should have deep impression about personal printers. Particularly, students should know kinds of printers, and understand how to output.
2.5 Via P4x33 with DDR333 and AGP 8X
In this part, students will touch USB, AGP8x,DDR333,ATA/133,the perfect P4chipset. At the same time, students will have a concept about via P4X333 reference board. After that, we will have a compare between VIA and INTEL, and then we will have a quick summary.
2.6 Windows XP
firtly, students should grasp some terminolgies about windows XP. Secondly ,students should know some operations in windows XP. And then, students should understand what is intelligent user interface and know Comprehensive digital media support.
2.7 Object-oriented programming concepts
In this part, we should understand some problems, just like What is an object? What is the message? What is a class? What is inheritance? Especially, students should know the concept of objec-oriented programming.
2.8 The short history of computer
In this part, students should know the short history of computer. Especially, students should know the fifth generation computer(present and beyond).
